Following in the footsteps of Gwen Stefani, Garbage’s Shirley Manson is embarking on a solo career – although one can imagine it’d be slightly less pop than the No Doubt diva’s.
Manson recently revealed to Billboard.com that she had just begun working on her own material, and flew to London to work with songwriter David Arnold (who has composed several James Bond themes, including the Manson-performed “The World Is Not Enough”).
“It was really quick and fast and it was really good fun,” she said of her brief songwriting vendetta, whilst insisting she is taking a relaxed approach to her music this time around. “I've got no timetable,” she explains. “I'm sort of sick of timetables, to be honest… I just want to live my life a little freely and not adhere to any schedule - just make music and have fun.”
Manson also addresses the supposed split of her band Garbage, which she insists is merely a hiatus and not a permanent break up.
She reveals to Billboard.com: “We're still together, absolutely. We all feel like we want to go off and do a variety of things. [Drummer] Butch [Vig] is going back into production and some other guys are working on film soundtracks.”
