In what must be a wet dream for metal fans the world over, Metallica will induct heavy rock legends Black Sabbath into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame on Monday March 13.

Probably pre-empting their own inclusion in the coming years, the band will not only bow to their heroes at the ceremony at New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel but will also play a short set of Sabbath songs for the assembled rock glitterati.

Metallica announced on their website "We are going to make a humble attempt at playing some of their songs live in front of the gathered masses, including, most humbling of all, the four members of the band themselves."

It’s no surprise that Metallica are massive fans of the band. They continue, "For all of us in Metallica, Black Sabbath are a major influence not only on our music, but on our lives, and as you can imagine, we're psyched to join Bill (Ward), Geezer (Butler), Ozzy (Osbourne) and Tony (Iommi) for the induction ceremony."

Black Sabbath are to be inducted alongside southern rock kings Lynyrd Skynyrd and new wave pioneers Blondie, among others.
